I turned 26 yesterday. A BIG 26! But, I don’t feel old… yet. How old will I be before I actually start feeling old? My mom said 40. What do you guys think? Anyway, I had a great weekend celebrating my birthday. I wrote the details for family and close friends so feel free to skip over my birthday story to get the three best resources for party planning.
We celebrated my birthday by spending a day at Sunny Beach in Galveston on Saturday. Sunny Beach is the best beach in Galveston, hands down. It is because it’s free. The other paid beaches we have been to are crappy and crowded. Also, Sunny Beach is convenient because you can park your car right on the beach.
We ate our peanut butter picnic while watching a bunch of boys kicking soccer balls towards the ocean. It was entertaining to watch whether if the current would bring their ball back. Something about the beach makes you feel so relaxed! Listening to the calming sounds of crashing waves, smelling the salty, fresh air, and feeling the warm, grainy sand between your toes.
After eating, we tried out the water. It was not too cold for 75-degree weather so it was nice walking around in the water. We also collected shells. We had to carry our daughter around because she dislikes sand. (I know! Right!?) She wouldn’t walk on it… Let alone touch it. The ocean scares her too. We were confused because she used to LOVE the beach. Next time we will have water shoes for her to see if that would help. Little Missy still had a great time. She loved stacking and distributing them on the picnic blanket.
It’s not my birthday without a birthday shopping. We went shopping at the outlet close by named Tanger Outlet. It’s a good mix of lower and higher end shops. We found me a great red & blue striped pencil skirt from Old Navy. It’s 40% off everything ending today (3/20) so I got the skirt for 9 bucks instead of 25 bucks. Score!
I was craving a good hamburger, we went to Red Robin for my birthday dinner. Did you know that you can get a free burger during your birthday month from Red Robin? Yep! You just have to join their Royalty Program 24 hr before you go out to eat. (We didn’t know that, so next year!) I am picky with burgers and Red Robin burgers are the way to go.
We ended the night with Stacked Up Ice Cream. It is in Katy, TX and it sells doughnut and macaroon ice cream sandwiches. They also have unique flavors like one of them is a Mediterranean flavor. I forgot what it’s called, but it definitely has an interesting taste to it. Some other flavors were pineapple coconut, Nutella, or my favorite, sweet cream. We got sweet cream ice cream sandwiched in Birthday Cake macaroon with rainbow sprinkles. Yum!
Three Best Party Planning Resources
In honor of my birthday month, I created a list of helpful resources that will help you plan your perfect party. After researching many different apps and blogs, I narrowed down the list to these top three favorite websites. These websites will help you find the cutest ideas for party themes, decorations, food, activities, etc. I am excited to use them for my daughter upcoming 2nd birthday party in July.

Why didn’t I hear about this earlier?? I found out about Partyology from reading one of the parenting magazines. And aha! It is a PERFECT resource to help you find ideas for your epic party. Once you sign up, you can type in ANY kind of party and the website will pull up TONS of ideas of fun things you can do for your party. It’s like Pinterest, but better. You can save it onto your account so you can go back to it like Pinterest. The app is free, so download it right now!
I love this blog. It’s full of pretty pictures of fun party decorations, food, and activities. Kara’s Party Ideas blog cater nicely to both kids and adults. I love looking through the beautiful photos. Go check it out!
I’ve used this resource many times before. They never disappoint. Although most ideas on there are Disney themed, but there is still some non-Disney stuff you can incorporate in your party. One thing I really like about this website is that they provide activities for the whole family to do together. They have great coloring pages too!
