This morning my 21-months daughter took out the playing cards and my thoughts were, “No! Not that! You’re going to make a mess!” Then part of me didn’t have the energy to take it away and handle her crying. So instead I brainstormed things she could do with the cards. I remembered that I saved an empty oatmeal can for later use for something. Ah ha, I knew what to do. This easy card activity is a perfect entertainment for her for the morning while I finished the dishes.

Card Slot Drop Activity
I first cut the lid. Just a small slit, enough space for a card to go through.
And your younger toddler will enjoy the challenge of getting the cards fit through the slit into the can.
Older toddlers will even enjoy this activity! They can use their imaginations like using the carton as a mailbox.
Skills my toddler is learning from this activity
- Fine motor skills
- Hand-eye coordination
