Hi! Are you new to Kidsivity? You’re in the right place! Below you will find information on easy ways to navigate the website to find things you need.
Kidsivity is the reflection of my daily life with my toddler, fun discoveries, and hobbies. I hope this website will benefit you and your kids as much as it benefits me and my family!
Welcome to Kidsivity!
Play is ESSENTIAL in child’s growth and development. Numerous studies showed that our children are spending less time playing and they are suffering for it. There is a rise in depression and anxiety in American children, which many healthcare workers attribute to lack of play.
In our generation, the world is full of technology. While technology has been a tremendous help in my life, it is also annoying! It’s everywhere! My daughter loves TV. More like obsessed. Her favorite line is, “I wanna watch HEEVE (TV).” She says that at least 5 times a day… So I created my own momma rules.
Limit to one hour or less of screen time a day.
The pediatricians said that 2 and under can’t watch any TV. My daughter is almost 20 months and she has been watching TV since… 3 months old. whoops. Can’t avoid it,
sorry. BUT, I read an article saying the doctors realized that mothers just can’t keep technology in boxes away from their kids. So they now allow kids under 1-2 watch under 1 hr TV if their mother sits by them. I do that sometimes, but I still stick to my rule with 1 hr or under of screen time a day (90% of the time).
Plan 15+ minutes of structured play with your kids each day
Structured play is play with a purpose. Plan the learning-objective activities ahead of time. This helps me so much because when she gets bored with playing with her toys and wants to watch TV. Kidsivity comes to rescue! The website has great ideas and will continue to grow with more ideas. Sometimes I just don’t have the time or am too tired to plan. I look at my list of 58 simple (with no preparation) activities that requires no preparation to see what activities she can do instead of TV.
Mommy needs to have an alone time
This is so essential. Mothering is so exhausting. Dishes, laundry, changing poopy diaper, training, making sure your kid eats, and the list goes on. Don’t forget about you! When your kids go down or have a quiet time, treat yourself! Do something fun! This rule saves my sanity. haha. It keeps me happy, therefore it keeps my child happy.
Planning structured play can be a lot of work, time, expensive, or too hard. I get it. I’ve been there. Kidsivity is here to make things easier for you as it has been for me. Kidsivity is a great resource for parents, caretakers, and teachers for creative activities that will optimize the kids’ learning experiences. Here are the things Kidsivity website has in offer for you.
1. All sorts of kids activities
Kidsivity website offers all sorts of activities ranging from newborn to elementary age. (I will expand it to teen ages later this year!) Remember some activities are made for certain kids while other activities don’t. There were times when I was excited to do an activity with my daughter, but she showed no interest in it. Itwas really frustrating, especially when you put a lot of work preparing for it. But that’s okay! It’s all about learning about your kids’ interests. Each child is unique and goes at their own pace.
You can find specific kids activities in Holiday-ivity and Age-ivity on the menu. They both have a drop-down list of categories that you can choose from. The activities may be for certain age, but can be easily modified to your child’s skill level. Please email me at kidsivity@gmail if you have any question. I’d love to help you! 🙂
My goal is to add on new posts every Monday (and more during the week if time permits me! ha!).
2. Mom Activities
Who says that only kids can have fun?? Adults can have fun too! In fact, I believe that grown-ups need me-time each day to recharge and to maintain happiness. Happy momma=happy kids! These activities will include book club, crafts, home decorations, cooking, travel, and more.
